Lost your Mazda key? What to do
You do not need to tow the car to a dealer. Follow these steps and we will make you a new key.
Check for a spare
Look for a second key at home or with family. If you have one, a copy costs much less than replacing every key.
Note your model and year
Find the model (Demio, Axela, CX-5…) and year on your logbook. Mazda keys change by year, so this tells us which key you need.
Call or WhatsApp us
Send the model, year and your location. We confirm the right key and the price before we start.
We make and program the key
We cut and program a new key at our branch or where your car is, and delete the lost key so it can no longer start the car. We check your ID and the car's logbook first.

Key with no buttons
A plain key with a plastic head is a transponder (chip) key on most Mazdas, or a basic mechanical key on very old models.
Key with buttons
A key with lock and unlock buttons is a remote key. If the blade folds into the key, it is a flip remote key.
Card or fob, turn a knob
If you keep the key in your pocket and turn a knob on the dashboard to start, you have a knob-turn smart key.
Push-button start
If you press a start button, you have a push-start smart key. The key depends on the year: 2010–2013, 2014–2018 or 2019 and newer.

How much does a Mazda car key cost in Kenya?
At Carkey Masters a Mazda transponder key starts from KSh 4,500, a remote key from KSh 7,500, a push-start smart key from KSh 7,500 and the 2019+ smart key for the CX-5, CX-30, Mazda 2, 3 and 6 from KSh 12,000. A basic mechanical key for the Bongo and older Mazdas starts from KSh 500, and a BT-50 remote key from KSh 6,500 (KSh 7,500 with a transponder chip).
