Frequently asked questions
How much does car key programming cost in Kenya?
At Carkey Masters a mechanical key copy starts from KSh 500, a transponder key from KSh 4,500, a remote key from KSh 5,000 and a smart push-start key from KSh 6,000. If all keys are lost, we come to you and make a new key on site: from KSh 3,500 for a mechanical key and KSh 7,500 for a smart or remote key within an 8 km radius in Nairobi. Further away, the price depends on your location. Send your car's make, model and year on WhatsApp for your exact price.
How long does car key programming take?
Most keys are cut and programmed in 30 minutes to an hour once we are with your car. Some European cars and all-keys-lost jobs can take longer, and we will tell you how long before we start.
I have lost all my car keys. What should I do?
Don't worry, you don't need the old key. Send us your car's make, model, year and location on WhatsApp or call 0727 262605, any time. We make and program a new key on site and delete the lost keys from the car so they can no longer start it.
Can you come to my location?
Yes. We offer mobile car key programming in Nairobi, at your home, office or where the car is parked. We come to you wherever you are. The all-keys-lost prices above apply within an 8 km radius in Nairobi; further away, the price depends on your location, so tell us where you are for a quote.
Can you stop my lost or stolen key from starting the car?
Yes. When we program your new key, we delete lost or stolen keys from the car's immobiliser memory, so only the keys you have can start it.
Do you program smart keys for push-start cars?
Yes. We program proximity smart keys for keyless entry and push-button start on Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Land Rover and many other makes.
Why do prices differ between Japanese imports and UK or European cars?
Cars built for the Japanese market often use different key frequencies and immobiliser chips from the same model sold in the UK or Europe, so the key and the programming are different. Tell us the model and year and where the car was imported from, and we will give you the right price.
Which car makes do you program keys for?
Most cars on Kenyan roads, including Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep, Peugeot, Porsche and Volvo.
Can you repair a broken key or replace the key shell?
Yes. We replace worn or broken key shells, repair buttons and fit new key batteries. Often this is cheaper than a new key, and your existing key chip is kept.
Do you sell car keys online?
Yes. You can browse keys by car make in our shop. We still cut and program every key to your car, so contact us to book the programming.
Need a car key today?
