Check for a spare
Look for a second key at home or with family. If you have one, a copy costs much less than replacing every key.
Note your model and year
Find the model (3 Series, 5 Series, X5…) and year on your logbook. BMW keys change with the immobiliser system (EWS or CAS), so the model and year tell us which key you need.

Send the model, year and your location. We confirm the right key, the price and the time before we start.
We make and program the key
We program a new key at our branch or where your car is, and delete the lost key so it can no longer start the car. We check your ID and the car's logbook first.

Key with a blade, no buttons
A key with a plastic head and no buttons is a transponder (chip) key. It starts the car but does not lock the doors.
Key with a blade and buttons
A key with lock and unlock buttons and a metal blade is a remote key, used on older 3 and 5 Series, X3 and X5 with the EWS system.
Key you push into the dashboard
If you push the key into a slot and press a start button, you have a CAS slot key, as on many 1, 3, 5 and 7 Series and the X5.
Key stays in your pocket
If you can start the car without taking the key out, you have a keyless (comfort access) smart key. Older cars use CAS3+, F-series cars (about 2009–2018) use CAS4, FEM or BDC2, and G-series cars from 2019 use BDC3. An F-series key will not work on a G-series car.
